Positions for Healing Grace in an Election Year #9
#1 – we are Christians before political parties, policies or ideologies.
#2 – we get our direction and values from God and His word.
#3 – we view people and life with the same value that God does.
#4 – we submit to and obey our governing authorities.
#5 – we honor and respect the people who govern us.
#6 – we participate in elections in a way that reflects Jesus.
#7 – we take action on God’s directives to care for the poor and needy.
#8 – we make it our highest priority to pray.
#9 – we trust in God’s plan.
Even when it doesn’t look like it, God has a plan and is working it out. God is using California in the midst of all that is going on. Yes, God is using California, the Bible says "nothing is impossible with God."
In Romans 8:28 there are these famous words: "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." NLT Paul was confident in his time that God caused everything to work together for the good. God doesn’t cause everything – some things are the consequences of broken people, even your own - but God causes everything to work together for the good – all the bad, all the evil, and the things we don’t like or agree with.
Last week we heard that God rules the nations, so we know that regardless of what happens in this election, God is in control and what he does through it will be for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. It may not be “good” for everyone, maybe not for those who don’t love God and haven’t responded to God’s call, but it will be God’s good.
In Esther 4:14 it says “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?” The Jews in the Kingdom of the Medes and Persians were about to be wiped out, every last one. Mordecai believed that even if Esther did not speak up, God would provide deliverance, but Esther, Mordecai believed, was positioned for just this moment. God was in control and he was using Mordecai and Esther. The same is true for you. God is in control and we are to trust Him, but we must also know that we are positioned for such a time as this. Positioned for Healing Grace.
So #9 – We trust God’s plan.
